ACL Group C Preview

22 February 2010 No Comment

Group C is made up of the following ACL teams.

Al Ain (UAE) – Al Ain FC is by far the most successful club in the UAE and among the best in Asia. Appearances in previous championships have yielded the following results. 2002-03 – Champion, 2004 – Quarter-Finals, 2005 – Finalist, 2006 – Quarter-Finals, 2007 – Group Stage. Al Ain is another serious contender.
Sepahan (IRN) – They have the strongest squad among four Iranian teams, and they do have a big chance of qualifying to the knock-out stage along with possibly Pakhtakor. Sepahan finished a strong 3rd in Group D last year.
Al Shabab (KSA) – Previous competition results include group stage in 2005, quarter finalists in 2006, group stage again in 2007, and round of 16 in 2009.
Pakhtakor (UZB) – a consistent performer in reaching the ACL championship. They first progressed past the Group stage in 2009 reaching teh Qtr finals for the first time.

Group C March Day 1 features:
AL AIN (UAE) vs PAKHTAKOR (UZB) – Pakhtakor are liley to score an away win in match day 1, with their strong performance domestically this year they are in fine form.
AL SHABAB (KSA) vs SEPAHAN (IRN) – This looks like a very even match-up and I would expect a draw in this game.
