The United Arab Emirates club were cut apart by the Saudi side in the Group B encounter with Nassir Al Shamrani netting a hat-trick and Abdulaziz Saran adding two more goals as Al Shabab closed in on a spot in the knockout stage of the AFC Champions League.

Sharjah remain in last place without a single point thus far but Oliveira was not too disappointed with the team’s latest setback.

“The result of the game doesn’t reflect the performance,” he said.

“We have met a strong team and they have good players but I’m really satisfied with the performance of my players in the game.

“The first half was good from our side and we made some good moves but we conceded easy goals in the first half from bad mistakes which we have could have avoided

“We tried to get a good result but Al Shabab are better than us and they scored five goals to win the game.”

With the win, Al Shabab moved to the top of Group B with 10 points, three clear of second-placed Piroozi with two games remaining.

“The game was hard but we had a good performance in the first half,” Al Shabab coach Enzo Trossero said.

“Sharjah played well but after the penalty that we converted, the game was clearly in our favour.

“I’m happy because the score was big and there were no problems or injuries for our side.
