Bunyodkor drops key players for ACL clash
Bunyodkor’s FYROM striker Stevica Ristik will miss the opening AFC Champions League campaign as Luiz Felipe Scolari has opted for the Brazilians.
Ristik played a key role in Pohang Steelers’ continental victory in 2009. He was also the scorer of the match-winner against Bunyodkor in the quarter-final.
The 27-year-old Stevo and Brazilian Edson Ramos have been left out by Scolari as he picked up Rivaldo, Denilson and Joao Victor to fill up the quota of three non-Asian players.
Scolari, however, didn’t say much at the press conference to present the club’s new players on Tuesday regarding his team choice. He did say that a final decision had not been made.
“I am the coach and my duty is to train the team. I don’t have time to work with transfer issues. Rivaldo is my advisor on this and helps me find the right players on certain positions,” he said replying to questions on Rivaldo’s involvement in player transfers.
