Sydney FC v Kashima Antlers – Live Score (0 – 3)(FT)
Sydney FC’s prospects of making the AFC Asian Champions League knockout phase have nosedived after crashing to a 3-0 loss to Japanese side Kashima Antlers at the Sydney Football Stadium on Wednesday night.
It was Sydney’s first home loss in an ACL game and left it in a parlous position with all three of its remaining games offshore.
Kashima joined Korean side Suwon on five points in the four-team group, with Sydney and China’s Shanghai Shenhua both three points further back at …

The home side were stunned after just five minutes when Emirates took the lead. The UAE outfit won possession on the right and Hadj Bougueche crossed towards Daoudi. The Moroccan striker showed good strength to hold off Walid Abdrabh before turning and firing past keeper Waleed Abdulla.
Al Shabab came desperately close to an equaliser just after the half-hour mark when Hassan Muath got inside the Emirates …

Sydney FC 1-1 Shanghai Shenhua
Sydney FC had a golden opportunity to take a commanding position in the Group H game but could only manage a 1-1 draw with Shanghai Shenhua.
Sydney dominated the game for very long periods but couldn’t convert enough chances to win the game. Surprisingly however it Shanghai who made the more aggressive start and took the lead after just six minutes through striker Duvier Riascos.
The burly striker was first to react to Luis Salmeron’s flick on, turning inside Stephan Keller and unleashing a left foot shot that …

Cerezo Osaka 1-0 Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors
Takashi Inui’s second-half goal saw Cerezo Osaka beat Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors 1-0 in their 2011 AFC Champions League Group G game.
Cerezo, playing their first official game since March 16, struggled to find their rhythm. It was however Inui who came close from outside the box in the 31st minute and Shu Kurata, playing well in the middle of the park, struck from the edge of the box only to be denied by Kim Min-sik.
The hosts delivered some dangerous crosses from the left but Jeonbuk centre-backs …

Tianjin Teda earned a 1 – 1 draw with Melbourne Victory to maintain top spot in Group E of the 2011 AFC Champions League.
Victory came close to a first goal just two minutes in when Adrian Leijer was just inches away from tapping home. Yu Dabao looked to reply three minutes later, only to see his fierce 30-yard shot fly over the crossbar.

Bunyodkor 0-0 Piroozi
Bunyodkor and Piroozi did nothing to help their 2011 AFC Champions League cause after the two teams played out a tepid goalless draw at JAR Stadium.
In a game devoid of any clear cut chances, the best fell to Kamoliddin Murzoev after just seven minutes but the forward was unable to capitalise.
Bunyodkor will in all likelihood feel the more aggrieved of the two sides having also had a goal disallowed in the second-half, while Piroozi will be relatively satisfied with a point although they will need to win the …

Al Sadd 1-0 Al Nassr
Lee Jung-soo’s second-half header sent Al Sadd to the top of Group B in the 2011 AFC Champions League after they edged out Al Nassr 1-0 at Al Sadd Stadium.
Lee deftly headed Nadir Belhadj’s corner into the back of the net after 60 minutes for his second goal of the tournament as the Qataris moved on to seven points with the victory, three ahead of their Saudi opponents.
Al Nassr threatened first and in the fourth minute, striker Mohammed Al Sahlwai slipped in a pass to team-mate …

Top 2 clash this week. Al Gharafa continue to lead in their domestic league, whilst Esteghlal are sitting 4th domestically. I expect an upset at home with Al Gharafa winning by 1 goal, maybe 2 – 1.
Al Ahli are at home to Al Jazira and need a point to have any chance to getting through to the next stage. If they lose at home they are out of this years competition. I expect Al Jazira to …

Al Ittihad, title winners in 2004 and 2005, drew 0-0 against Al Jazira.
Al Jazira are still looking for their first win and should have collected it against the Saudi Arabians.
Brazilian stars Rafael Sobis and Fernando caused problems for the visiting defence but goalkeeper Mabrouk Zaid was a brick wall, stopping all shots on goal.
That left Umm Salal to open a four-point gap between second and third as they won 1-0 at home to Iranian league leaders Esteghlal.
Fabio Cesar made it 1 – 0 for the Qatari …
