History:
In just four years from its foundation FC Bunyodkor has gradually passed the way from an amateur team to the Champion of Uzbekistan, the winner of the Uzbek Cup and the semi-finalist of the continental Champions League.

In 2005, in the Tashkent regional championship (League Two), the team won the ticket to the League One of the national championship. Kuruvchi successfully managed this task and since 2006 the club has competed in the first division of the national championship. Under the direction of Hikmat Ergashev, from the very first attempt Kuruvchi won the League One tournament (38 matches, 27 wins, 5 draws, 6 losses), and won the right to compete in the Major League in 2007.

2007 season became the début year for Kuruvchi in the major league. Tashkent club updated several country records (such as the highest number of goals scored and the lowest number of goals missed, points scored in the matches with favorites). Moreover, Kuruvchi forward Ilkhom Muminjanov became the best striker of the championship.

In 2007 season, Kuruvchi played 30 matches in the major league (22 wins, 5 draws, 3 losses, scored to missed goals were 62-16) and having gathered 71 points, for the first time in the history of Uzbek championships, it won a silver medal. Kuruvchi played confidently in the Uzbek Cup, and made it to the final. In the final match, Kuruvchi played against the country’s champion Pakhtakor. The main and additional match time ended with a draw 0:0. In the series of penalties the players of Kuruvchi were less lucky (6-7).

Within an incredibly short period of time the team grew so much, it now claims the highest positions not only in Uzbekistan, but also in Asia, the Vice President of the Club Tavakkal Ismailov said. – Along with the performance results, we have substantially improved the club infrastructure to the level, to which a professional football club should correspond. In particular, the number of investors and partners in the club increased sharply. The majority of them operate in the constructive sphere of the economy of Uzbekistan. Taking this into account, we have decided to change the name of the club to Bunyodkor, which is the Uzbek for the “creator”.

The year 2008 was the most successful in Bunyodkor’s history. Before the beginning of the season, the team membership was strengthened significantly, and one of the best young coaches of the country Mirjalol Kasymov became the Head Coach of the team. In the late summer, Bunyodkor signed a contract with the world champion Rivaldo, a Brazilian defender Luisao, and a Chilean forward Villanueva. And an invited famous expert, Zico replaced Kasymov in the position of the Head Coach. Brazilian Coach won the national championship and cup.

In the beginning of 2009 a large-scale construction of the Sport Park Tashkent sport complex was launched. This unique project worth 150 million US dollars includes a football stadium with a two-level arena to seat 35,000 spectators and a platform shed. It also includes seven training fields intended for the national football academy (including two fields with artificial lawn), hotel, rehabilitation and a restaurant complexes.
