Mday 3 – ACL Group F

8 April 2009 No Comment

Gamba Osaka are almost in the second round of the Asian Champions league after a 5-0 thrashing of Indonesian team Sriwijaya.

The defending champions are the only team still to have a perfect record of three wins from three.

It was a third straight defeat for the South East Asians and virtually ends what little hope they have of the second round.

Going forward, the J-League club were just too strong for the visitors. Brazilian star Leandro bagged a brace, to follow his hat-trick in the previous round, Satoshi Yamaguchi, Michihiro Yasude and an Ambrizal own goal gave the home fans plenty to cheer.

FC Seoul lost their second straight match in the competition and are now three points off the pace in Group F following their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Shandong Luneng. Two second half goals won the game for the Chinese champions.

The first came nine minutes after the restart and was scored by Lu Zheng. Han Peng sealed the win with 18 minutes remaining.
