Japanese champions Kashima Antlers got their Asian Champions League back on track with a 2-0 win over Shanghai Shenhua while Suwon Samsung Bluewings moved three points clear at the top with a comfortable victory over Singapore Armed Forces by the same scoreline.

After their 4-1 defeat in Suwon in the opening game, Kashima couldn’t afford another slip-up.

Takuya Nozaqa put the hosts ahead just before the break with a smart finish.

Shanghai, who had their chances, had a tough task made much more difficult midway through the second half when Du Wei was shown a second yellow.

The win was sealed with ten minutes remaining as 18 year-old Yuya Osaka made it 2-0.

Suwon dominated the match against Singapore but were unable to find a way past the impressive Shahril Jantan in goal.

A handball from Daniel Bennett after 65 minutes gave Eduardo the chance to score from the spot which the Brazilian accepted.

The striker then scored in much more impressive fashion six minutes later, beating his defender to lash the ball home from a tight angle.
