Al Gharafa coach Marcos Paqueta could barely contain his delight after watching his side annihilate Piroozi 5-1 at Al Gharafa Stadium.
Araujo proved the hero with a hat-trick as the recently-crowned Qatar league champions hauled themselves firmly back into contention in Group B for a place in the knockout stage.

Mday 4 – ACL Group B Wrap

Al Shabab have nearly qualified for round 2 but the race for 2nd spot is still open.
Persepolis went into the game with Al Gharafa four points clear at the halfway stage, and a win would have sent the Reds into the next round. Instead, they were thrashed 5-1.

Persepolis of Iran and Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab are in control of Group B of the ACL and looking good for a place in round 2.
Persepolis defeated Al Gharafa of Qatar 3-1. Meyzar Zare put the Tehran giants ahead after 36 minutes from the penalty spot and there was still time in the first half for Ibrahim Toure to make it 2 – 0.

In the other match in Group B, Persepolis defeated Sharjah.
It was a comfortable win for the Riyadh club in Qatar and all four goals came in the first half.
Marcelo Ramiro Camacho set the ball rolling after five minutes by finishing from close range.
The advantage was doubled midway through the first half. Adbulaziz Nasser fired home a fine shot from the edge of the area.
