Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond was left to rue his side’s missed opportunities in front of goal in their 1-0 loss to Nagoya Grampus at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Wednesday.

Ulsan Hyundai coach Kim Ho-gon praised the contribution of goal scorer Oh Jang-eun, who once again ruined Beijing Guoan’s night as his 70th minute header consigned the Chinese side to a 1-0 defeat on Wednesday.
Oh scored the only goal in the previous Group E meeting between the two sides on April 7 and was on target again at the Worker’s Stadium as he leapt above a sleepy Beijing defence to head home a Hyun Young-min free-kick.

Japanese side Nagoya Grampus took a major step toward securing their place in round 2of the ACL with a 1-0 win away against the Newcastle Jets.
Nagoya was more incisive at Energy Australia Stadium compared to their previous meeting, taking the lead during the second half through Ogawa Yoshizumi after having threatened the Jets goal on a number of occasions.
The Jets themselves created plenty of opportunities, coming close through the likes of central defender Angelo Costanzo and missing a second half penalty that was won and taken by substitute Sash Petrovski.

The race for qualification for the knockout stages of the Asian Champions League from Group E became particularly tight on Tuesday evening, as K-League outfit Ulsan Hyundai registered their first win of the competition and kept alive their hopes of progress from the group stages.
In the group’s other match, A-League side the Newcastle Jets managed to hold group leaders Nagoya Grampus to a 1-1 draw in Japan.

The Newcastle Jets moved to within one point of the Group E leaders with a first Asian Champions League victory over K-League side Ulsan Hyundai on Tuesday evening, as Beijing Guoan played out a scoreless draw away against Nagoya Grampus.
Japanese side Nagoya opened up their campaign with a 3-1 win away against Hyundai last week but were held at home by a Beijing outfit who impressed in their 2-0 win over the Newcastle Jets.

Nagoya Grampus took control of Group E with a 3-1 win at Ulsan Hyundai Horang-I while Beijing Guoan also got off to a winning start by defeating Australian team Newcastle Jets 2-0.
At half-time, Nagoya were facing an uphill battle at the home of the South Koreans.
