Gunes rues Seoul draw

FC Seoul boss Senol Gunes was left cursing his side’s luck after the Korea Republic team were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Shandong Luneng.

A first-half header from Park Yong-ho put Seoul ahead and the hosts went close to adding to their lead on several occasions.

Seoul were left to rue their wastefulness after 80 minutes, however, as Shandong levelled through Alejandro Cichero to remain in second place, three points ahead of the K-League team in Group F.

Gamba Osaka coach Akira Nishino felt that the reigning ACL champions’ 3-0 away win over Sriwijaya which sealed their place in the last 16 was not as easy as the score line suggests.

Mday 4 – ACL Group F Wrap

Gamba Osaka booked their place in the second round of the Asian Champions League on Tuesday.
The defending champions won 3-0 playing away at Sriwijaya’s home ground to move onto 12 points in Group F.
The Kansai club are seven points clear of FC Seoul in third and are safely in the last 16.
In-form Brazilian striker Leandro opened the scoring in Palembang and subsequent goals from Hayato Sasaski and Cho Jae-jin sealed the win.

Gamba Osaka are almost in the second round of the Asian Champions league after a 5-0 thrashing of Indonesian team Sriwijaya.
The defending champions are the only team still to have a perfect record of three wins from three.
It was a third straight defeat for the South East Asians and virtually ends what little hope they have of the second round.

Asian champions Gamba Osaka started their defence of the trophy with an impressive 3-0 win over Shandong Luneng on Tuesday night.
In Group F’s other match, FC Seoul won 4-2 at the Indonesian home of Sriwijaya.
Gamba took control early against the Chinese champions and never really looked like letting go.
It took the hosts just 20 minutes to break the deadlock.
